A fond farewell to Sgt Dave Roberts 3920 of Redditch town centre team

After 30 years of dedicated service to West Mercia Police, this week we bid farewell to a stalwart of West Mercia and Redditch Police, Sergeant Dave Roberts.

Dave is hanging up his pocket notebook and radio and retiring from the force following a career of loyal service and keeping our communities safe.

Dave is a well-known face around the town after three decades of unwavering commitment to public service in Worcestershire and will be dearly missed by officers and colleagues here at West Mercia as well as partner agencies and communities we work with.

He is soon to move on to pastures new in a new role with a neighbouring force and we wish him every success in his fresh challenge.

Inspector Rich Field said: “This week we marked the retirement of Police Sergeant David Roberts, a colleague whose career has spanned over three decades of dedicated public service—first with British Transport Police and then with West Mercia Police from 2003 to this year.

“Dave’s career has been defined by his unwavering commitment to community policing, his operational leadership, and his ability to bring both professionalism and personality to every role he’s held.

“From his early days in Rubery through to his final posting with the Safer Neighbourhood Team in Redditch, Dave has consistently demonstrated integrity, compassion, and a deep-rooted sense of duty.”

We would like to offer Dave our sincere thanks and gratitude for all he has done through his long and successful career with us, and his dedication and service to our community.

We all hope our paths will cross again in the future and that his new role will continue to offer opportunities for collaboration with partner agencies, including ourselves.

Thank you, Dave. You will be greatly missed by us all.
