Dear residents Over the last week in the BROCKHILL and CENTRAL area we have had 3 reports of attempted vehicle theft. On one of these occasions the offenders attempted removing a window to gain access to the property fortunately this was unsuccessful. Here are some tips for keeping your vehicles safe. Home-Based Vehicle Security Tips 🚪 Secure Your Keys Keep keys away from doors and windows: Thieves use tools to "fish" keys through letterboxes.Use a Faraday pouch: Blocks signals from keyless entry fobs to prevent relay attacks.Avoid leaving keys in hallways or porches: Store them in a secure, hidden spot.💡 Enhance Your Home’s Exterior Install motion-activated lights: Bright lights deter thieves from approaching your vehicle.Use CCTV or smart security cameras: Monitor your driveway or garage and record suspicious activity.Join a Neighbourhood Watch scheme: Community vigilance can help prevent local vehicle crime.🔒 Physical Vehicle Protection Use steering wheel and pedal locks: Visible deterrents that make theft harder.Install a GPS tracker and immobiliser: Helps recover your car if stolen and prevents engine start without the correct key.Secure number plates with tamper-resistant screws: Prevents cloning. 🚗 Smart Parking Habits Park with wheels turned toward the curb: Makes towing or quick getaways more difficult.Avoid leaving your car running unattended: Even for a quick errand or de-icing.Double-check electronic locking: Signal jammers can prevent your car from locking—always confirm manually. 📦 Protect Belongings Inside Remove valuables: Don’t leave phones, wallets, or electronics in view.Hide cables and mounts: Even suction marks can tempt a break-in.Take documents with you: Never leave logbooks or ID papers in the car. Please report any suspicious behaviour via 101 or online.
