Burglaries at fire stations and the criminal use of stolen fire service equipment. |
||
Since the beginning of the year 23 burglaries have been committed at rural based retained fire stations across the UK, some of which are in the Shropshire area. Vital Fire Service equipment is being stolen, with criminals using this equipment to commit a variety of offences at business premises, with ATM's and safes being targeted. Cash losses run into millions of pounds so far this year, in addition to the substantial damage to retail premises and ATM's, restricting access to key services for local communities. Also the impact of these thefts and the loss of life saving equipment for the Fire Service remains a constant concern as the offending continues. If you live or work near a fire station, or perhaps you pass one on to way to and from work, and you see any suspicious activity please call police on 999 to report. If you have any information regarding this series of offences please contact police either by calling 101 or alternatively using our online reporting service on our website. You can also pass any information anonymously via Crimestoppers at www.crimestoppers-org.uk or by calling 0800 555111. Many thanks.
