Speeding Priorities Activity

On Friday 6th June Pc Mike of the Safer Neighbourhoods Rural North Team attended locations across his four Parishes completing Speed Enforcement and Surveys. During the four activities which lasted around 20-30 minutes each, one Traffic Offence Report was issued to a driver who was recorded as doing 37mph in a 30mph residential area. The report is submitted to the West Mercia Police ticket management unit who then issue either a drivers awareness course or a fine with 3 points endorsed to their license. (and no before it’s mentioned, this money doesn't go into our Christmas Party fund πŸ˜‚, it actually goes to the Government Treasury).

Speeding has been selected by all four of the Oswestry Rural North Parish Councils as one of their three priorities. The three priorities are provided to the local Policing Team every six months which allows them to focus on areas of concern raised by the council and the communities they represent. These priorities form just a small part of each Safer Neighbourhood Teams duties with other areas including calls for service, community engagement and crime prevention just to name a few.

Thank you to all other road users that day for travelling within the speed limits and keeping our roads safe.
