Man arrested over EV cable theft after police pursuit

A man has been arrested on suspicion of electric vehicle (EV) cable theft following a tactical pursuit by roads policing officers in Worcestershire.

Acting on intelligence, Operational Policing Unit (OPU) officers followed a suspected stolen car at around 11pm on Wednesday (11 June) in the Kidderminster area.

The black Renault Megane failed to stop when indicated to and a pursuit was authorised.

Just before 1am on Thursday morning, OPU deployed a stinger successfully, however the car attempted to continue at speed.

Officers then used a box tactic to successfully bring the vehicle to a halt. One occupant, believed to be the driver, fled the scene, and an investigation has been launched to locate him.

The other occupant, an 18-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of theft of EV cables in Worcestershire and has been bailed while enquiries continue.

No-one was injured during the incident, and the black Renault has been seized as part of the investigation.
