Dear Residents, Yesterday afternoon in Hollinswood a male who appeared to be under the influence of drink was seen driving a vehicle in a residential area. The driver was spoken to and admitted that they had a drink earlier on in the day. The driver appeared intoxicated and so was placed under arrest for section 4 of the road traffic act by PC Baggott Following further checks this driver was actually disqualified from driving and so was further arrested for this offence.
After being taken to custody the driver was breathalyzed where they blew 47 Micrograms per 100 milliliters of breath, the UK drink drive limit is 35 Micrograms per 100 milliliters of breath.
The driver was charged with both offences and will appear in court next month. If anybody suspects someone is getting behind the wheel under the influence of drink or drugs you can call 999 if this is in progress or you can pass on information anonymously to the independent charity, Crimestoppers, by calling 0800 555 111 or by visiting their website: www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
Thank you for your help. It is only by the police and the public working together that we can prevent and detect crime. With the warmer weather approaching don't be tempted to drink and drive and think before getting behind the wheel of a vehicle.
Kind regards,
PC 21942 Baggott | ||||
