Wildlife and animal crime can be a complex area to understand. Crimes involving animals that aren't wildlife crimes include; - livestock worrying. - livestock theft. - hunting. - dog theft, banned dogs, dogs being out of control in public places. - animal cruelty.
Animal cruelty is when someone doesn't care for or deliberately hurts an animal. It can include anything from physical violence, to deliberate mental distress or neglect, for example not feeding or cleaning an animal. We have recently received several reports recently of loose and neglected farm animals in the area. Along with an external agency we have carried out a visit to the property where the animals are located to check on their condition and the facilities provided for the animals. The owner have been issued with a warning regarding the condition of the animals and have a fixed time period in order to show the facilities are up to standard and that the animals receive the correct level of care or they will be seized and rehomed.
Please rest assured that we take all incidents of animal cruelty seriously and will remove any animals that we consider to be neglected after inspection by specialist agencies. Please continue to report any such incidents via 101. If you aren’t comfortable contacting us directly, you can pass on information anonymously to the independent charity, Crimestoppers, by calling 0800 555 111 or by visiting their website: www.crimestoppers-uk.org For more information please contact me or PCSO Stirling on 07483 108189 or pershorerural.snt@westmercia.police.uk. Thank you for your help. It is only by the police and the public working together that we can prevent and detect crime. Kind regards, PCSO Stirling. | ||||
