Speed enforcement activity

Road safety concerns, in particular speeding, are consistently raised by our local communities.

Yesterday, Safer Neighbourhood Teams in South Shropshire took part in Operation AURORA which was created in order to tackle speeding in our communities.

Sgt Price, PCSO Francis and PCSO Cooke conducted speed enforcement in the following locations after members of the community expressed their concerns of speeding in the area:

PARYS ROAD, LUDLOW (morning session)

Total number of cars checked : 109

Average speed: 25.5mph

Highest speed: 34mph

No of vehicles of 35mph: 0

PARYS ROAD, LUDLOW (afternoon session)

Total number of cars: 101

Average speed: 25.2mph

Highest speed: 40mph

No of vehicles over 35mph 1

CAYNHAM (afternoon session)

Total number of cars: 35

Average speed: 26.7mph

Highest speed: 34mph

No of vehicles over 35mph 0

OVERTON ROAD (afternoon session)

Total number of cars: 63

Average speed: 27.1mph

Highest speed: 38mph

No of vehicles over 35mph: 3

The drivers found speeding will now be sent a notice of intended prosecution letter.

The survey is in line with the Parish Council priorities.

Speed surveys are conducted at various times and days, throughout your local area by the designated SNT in conjunction with Parish Councils.
