Dear Resident,
![]() We are aiming to send a monthly newsletter to inform you of our work in Hereford Northside.
The Hereford Northside patch is covered by the three members of the Safer Neighbourhood Team, and is a large area including Victoria Park, College, Aylestone Hill, Eign Hill, Tupsley, Greyfriars, Whitecross. Kings Acre, Bobblestock and part of Widemarsh ward. Since the festive season we have been busy attending a wide range of incidents and reports. These include neighbour disputes, vehicle concerns, youth and adult anti-social behaviour, criminal damage, shed breaks, concerns for welfare, missing persons, road traffic incidents, road closures due to snow and flooding, and many more.
We have completed many foot patrols of streets, parks, and educational facilities. We have also covered further afield on our patch using our all-electric marked community vehicle. Neighbourhood Matters flyers have been posted through letterboxes, and we have completed letter drops addressing issues on specific streets. We have also been assisting our colleagues in the City Centre with CCTV enquiries, completed hotspot patrols, called in at the shops and restaurants that have experienced youth anti-social behaviour, and conducted foot patrols of Hereford Cathedral.
![]() The main part of our remit is to engage with the community, so we have attended many events to include a Cuppa with a Copper pop up at the Union Café in the City Centre, and Revive Café in Edgar Street. Dropping into local hubs and housing services for young people, we have engaged with both staff and residents, giving advice and talks. Yesterday evening we attended a Beavers Scout group to talk to the children.
You may have heard about the burglaries in Hereford over the past weeks. We have been on the patch assisting our Response Police Officers with house-to-house and CCTV enquiries and providing reassurance to the victims. In additional to working with our police colleagues we also jointly work with British Transport Police, Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, Herefordshire Council Talk Community, Herefordshire Veteran Support Service, several social housing providers and many other agencies. In the news and social media, you may have seen the report of a male with a knife outside Holmer Primary School, and the bomb hoax called into Halo Leisure Centre. Both incidents have been dealt with by police and updates posted to social media. We have been attending both premises to provide reassurance and carried out hi-visibility patrols at the school engaging with staff, parents and pupils.
Over the month several items of stolen and discarded property were recovered. We are happy to report the return of two pedal cycles to two young people who were very happy to see them again!
Kind Regards,
Your Safer Neighbourhood Team - Hereford Northside PC Reynolds, PCSO Slatter & PCSO Macleod | ||||
