Redditch drug dealer is sentenced to two years

A drug dealer who was selling heroin and crack cocaine into Redditch has been given a two-year custodial sentence.

Shahfaqat Ali, 20, of Prospect Road North, Redditch was found guilty at Worcester Crown Court on Thursday 6 June of two charges.

Ali was sentenced to two years in a Young Offenders Institution (YOI) for being concerned in the supply of heroin and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £187.

He was further sentenced to two years in a YOI to run concurrently being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine.

Ali’s sentence follows an investigation by Redditch Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) and the Neighbourhood Crime Fighting Team (NCFT).

Police Constable Mike Moore of Redditch SNT said: “We are pleased to see Ali has been sentenced to two years for his drug dealing into our communities here in Redditch.

“The misery associated with this offending is well known as is the impact on the local community.

“Officers from West Mercia Police will not tolerate the supply of controlled drugs and will work with the local community and partner agencies to combat it at every opportunity.”
