Educational Talk - Staying Safe Online

Dear Resident,

Your local Safer Neighbourhood Team were at the Riverside Centre during the Monday evening youth club yesterday, where they presented an educational talk to children from ages 8 - 12 years old about staying safe online.

Top tips for staying safe online:

  • Ensure you have privacy settings on your accounts.
  • Be mindful of who you accept as a friend or a follower - do you know them personally? What are their security settings? Do you trust them? Remember, don't talk to strangers.
  • Never share your username or password.
  • Have a completely unique password for your email address. If your email is hacked, any of your account passwords can be reset.
  • Where available, enable two factor authentication.
  • If you would like to arrange an educational talk about online safety, please get in contact by clicking the “reply” button below. Online safety is important for all ages, not just youths or the elderly. Every day, people fall for different scams and fraudulent activity. A lot of this can be prevented by practicing good internet safety.

    Thank you,

    PC Amy Hunt
